Distribution
The Red Band Film Co. intends on developing hybrid distribution models for its entertainment projects. This is an intelligent, tactical combination of traditional film and television distribution methods, combined with unique, Web 2.0 (and beyond) online outlets.
Red Band’s first project is a 30-minute, episodic comedy called Tossed Off, a parody of “Survivor” and other reality TV shows. The distribution model for Tossed Off is aimed at becoming the template for future Red Band projects, and is expected to become a model for works done by major studios in the future.
We are targeting an online audience of 1,000,000 for each episode. Distribution models aim to reach this level by the third episode of Tossed Off, thereby proving the concept.
FREE ONLINE STREAMING - Ad Supported
- All Tossed Off episodes will be available for free on www.PariahIsland.com and other preapproved partner sites.
- Streaming video quality will be H.264 via QuickTime.
- Online episodes presented in “hypervideo“, with on-screen elements clickable, resolving to sources of extra content, outtakes, sponsor messages, ads, etc.
- Online episodes will be supported by Red Band’s revolutionary new Hypersonsoring model.
PIRACY
- Red Band welcomes piracy of its product.
- Since all video files include in-stream commercials, embedded product placement, watermarks and other low-impact sponsor messages, piracy of Tossed Off is welcomed, and not discouraged.
- We are leading the shift in understanding that peer to peer (P2P) downloading and file sharing are extensions of the distribution model, not an enemy of it. In fact, file sharing is one of the only free, “volunteer-based” distributor supply chains in the world economy.
- Red Band will partner with a major “torrent” site to provide additional levels of exposure to file downloaders.
- Downloaded files of Tossed Off count as “views” of the episode.
iTUNES
- Episodes will be available for sale on iTunes
- These will be sold at normal iTunes per-episode rates
SUBSCRIPTION VIEWING - DVD Quality
- Subscribers can pay a small premium to download DVD-quality files of each episode.
- These will include the hypervideo content and sponsor materials.
- These may — or may not — include in-stream ads.
YOUTUBE SNIPS
- Red Band will promote Tossed Off by releasing short 3 minute segments of each episode to video sites such as YouTube.
- Each short snip will include a screen at the end directing the viewer to www.PariahIsland.com to view the entire episode for free.
NETWORK / CABLE TELEVISION
- We haven’t ruled out a network TV run for Tossed Off. In order to prepare for this, all episodes are being shot in Hi-Def, for broadcast or cable TV quality.
- All material will be targeted at a PG13 (TV14) rating, to match standard prime time television content guidelines.
DVD SALES
- At the conclusion of Season One, the entire season will be made available as a DVD set, with an incredible amount of extras.
- Product-placed promotions will be carried over into the DVD release.
